In Ubuntu, system simply boots to X window on the i915 driver.The Nouveau module or Nvidia one, Dose not even load.I think turning off the Nvidia Card during the boot time is much more elegant!.Using direct access to the apple_gmux ports, you can change the cards, but then a black screen greets you, which you can do nothing! (maybe you need to restart X).The Switcheroo interface, is not able to switch the graphic cards.There are problems with X, which I could not solve them. Switching the graphics cards after the system is booted, is not feasible.It needs a lot less juice, giving MacBook a longer run on battery.
